Panel discussion ’Facing Adversity’ on International Women’s Day 2023

Marking the International Women’s Day 2023, the Embassy hosted a panel discussion ’Facing Adversity’: sharing of experiences to recognize and honour the role and contributions of women around the world in overcoming large scale humanitarian challenges such as natural disasters. We are grateful to the moderator of the panel, Ms. Dilara Aslan Ozer, Daily Sabah Bureau Chief in Ankara who also shared her own experiences, and the panel speakers for their rich presentations on the role of women in effectively dealing with the challenges of natural calamities and similarly difficult humanitarian settings:
i. Prof. Dr. Feride Acar, Academic and a Founder Member of METU’s Department of Women’s Studies;
ii. Ms. Parvathy Ramaswami, Country Director, United Nations World Food Programme; and
iii. Ms. Sudhi Choudhary, Consul General of India in Istanbul.
