Subject: Art competition entitled“United against Corona- Express through Art.”

Dear HoM/ HoP,

The COVID-19 Pandemic around the world has taken the world by storm and people are experiencing the best and worst of human emotions – empathy, sympathy, kindness, concern, anger, frustration, social cohesiveness and bravery among others. For aeons, emotions of this nature has driven creative thought across the world, with people coming out with innovative ideas and ways to deal with these turbulent times. People use myriad methods, including spirituality, self-introspection, exercise and especially Art to express these emotions.

2. Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)is organizing a Global Art competition to capture these emotions calling on professional and amateur artists from India and the world over to express themselves and their feelings – through a competition entitled“United against Corona- Express through Art.”The competition will commence on 2ndApril 2020and the deadline for entry will be 1stMay 2020. All details, including guidelines related to the competition are available on ICCR’s website. I am attaching a copy of the guidelines for your information. I am also attaching digital banners/ flyers for the competition and other publicity material.

3. Please immediately circulate the information as wide as possible to the government, ministry of culture, leading art houses, museums, art impresarios, media, art critics, social media influencers etc. in your countries of accreditation. We need to reach out as widely as possible. It goes, of course, without saying that you should put it up on your websites and spread it through your social media handles. You should also try and get it covered in the local media. In this time of crisis, media houses need some positive messages and you should stress on the fact that this sends a message of solidarity and hope. I am attaching a Press release which will be sent out here in India. Please use it and send it to your media contacts also.

4. I and DDG, Ms. Namrata Kumar, will be available on our emails and mobile phones for any specific queries. Please follow our and ICCR’s social media handles to get the latest flyers and banners which you can then spread widely.

Wish you and your families the best during these crucial times.
