Tulip season in Istanbul

Before coming to Turkey, I had no clue that Istanbul was the original tulip capital of the world. Emirgan Park, overlooking the Bosphorus, is the queen of tulip gardens! Spread over 48 hectares of undulating grounds, lakes, fountains and 3 beautiful villas dating to Ottoman times, it has 3000 types of tulip, all carefully tended and timed to be in full bloom in April. It provides the most spectacular sight you can imagine. Now, even the beautiful tulip motifs on tiles of Ottoman palace walls and mosques make more sense!
