General Instructions for Applying for Passport
In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) guidelines the Government of India introduced Machine Readable Passports with effect from 26th August 2007. In the case of Indian nationals applying at the Embassy of India Ankara, these passports will be printed and issued from India. The applications for such passports are required to be submitted to this Embassy well before the date of expiry of the existing passports for processing by this Embassy and issue of passports by the concerned office of the Government of India in New Delhi. Such passports will be issued in India and received by this Embassy for delivery to the applicant concerned. The whole process for issuing of a passport may take about three weeks from the date of application.
Working hours of Consular Section
- Applications for Passport and consular services can be made at the Consular Section of the Embassy, which is open from 10:00 am to 11:30 a.m. on all working days.
- Passports and other documents, after completion of the service requested, can be collected from 17:00 and 17:30 hours on the date indicated.
- Fees for passport services are accepted at the Embassy in cash in US Dollars only.
- Dimensions of photographs required for Machine Readable Passports will be 35mm. x 45mm. with a white background. Photos not meeting this specification will not be accepted for scanning the image.
- Applicant should put his signature in Black ink at the box specified on top of the front page of the application form.

Requirements During Submission of Application Forms
- Duly filled and signed Application form
- Personal Particulars Form (in duplicate)
- 4 photographs (50mm x 50 mm dimensions)
- the old passport along with a photocopy of the first and last page of the passport
- Copy of the residence permit
- Any other documentary proof requested by the consular officer.
Applications for new passport can be submitted within one year before the final Expiry of the current passport.

Please note that applicants are required to submit their applications as per their area of residence. Please check the list below to ascertain your place of submission. Application out of jurisdiction will not be accepted.
