Briefing of Turkish Think Tanks by Ambassador of India 
Embassy of India, Ankara, organized a briefing on recent developments between India-Pakistan relations on March 04, 2019 at 1430 hrs at Tagore hall, in the Embassy premises. Prominent ThinkTanks of Turkey like Prof. SelcukColakoglu, Center for South Asia Studies; Amb (R) OktayAksoy, Foreign Policy Institute; Assist Prof SebnemUdum, Hacettepe Univ, Dept Of Int Relations; Mr. Yasar Ergun, First Sec, SAM, MOFA; Major Gen (R) Dr. GurayAlpar, Strategic Thinking Institute; Amb(R) AydinNurhan, TASAM; Ms. Vuslat Nur Sahin, AVIM; Mr. Murat Kenanoglu, TEPAV and a PhD Student of Prof HuseyinBagci, Metu, Dept of Int Relations attended the briefing by the Indian Ambassador Mr Sanjay Bhattacharyya. The delegates were briefed about the Indian Position after the Pulwama terrorist attack on Feb 14, 2019.

2nd Lecture of Mahatma Gandhi Lecture Series Organized in Embassy of India Ankara 

Embassy of India, Ankara, organized the second Lecture in the Mahatma Gandhi Lecture Series at 1830 hrs on Feb 25, 2019, at Tagore Hall in the Embassy. The lecture on Transformational Leadership of Mahatma Gandhi was delivered by Smt Shobhana Radhakrishna, the Chief Functionary of Gandhian Forum for Ethical Corporate Governance since January 2012. The function got a huge response from the Diplomatic Corps, Turkish community and Indian Diaspora.

Transit Visit of Hon'ble Minister of Foreign Affairs, MsSushmaSwaraj

The Foreign Minister of India Hon'ble SushmaSwaraj transited through Turkey on Feb 19, 2019. During her transit, she halted at Erzurum for a short duration. Ambassador of India to Turkey, Shri Sanjay Bhattacharyya and other officers of Indian Embassy received the Foreign Minister. Members of the Indian Community at Erzurum were also present at the airport to greet and meet the Foreign Minister. The Governor of Erzurum Mr Okay Memes also met with the Foreign Minister.

The celebration of Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas 2019

Embassy of India, Ankara celebrated PravasiBhartiyaDiwas on January 11, 2019. The function was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India to Turkey, Sh Sanjay Bhattacharyya along with MsSeher AATAY, lead singer and Mr Abdullah Alper Kurbani, Art Dirctor and Tar Player, by lighting of the traditional lamp. A short film on GandhiThe first Pravasi and a powerpoint on the PravasiBhartiyaDiwas was also shown to the audience. The Pravasis also shared their experiences with the audience. The Ambassador handed over the letter of Appreciation by the Hon. Minister of External Affairs of India MsShushmaSwaraj. The video of Europe and Eurasia tribute to Mhatma Gandhi featuring the Hymn Vaishanv Jan To was also played which was highly appreciated by the audience. The members of the Turkish World Music Society, who participated in the rendition of the bhajan Vaishnav Jan To were facilitated by the Ambassador. The function was attended by the members of the Indian diaspora and the Turkish community. Vote of thanks was presented by the First Secretary (Cons). Indian snacks were served to Indian and Turkish guests.

India Business Forum Inaugurated on December 07, 2018

Taking note of the strong economic growth in India and Turkey, growing trade and investment contacts between them and the desire to further deepen economic engagement between the two countries, Embassy of India in partnership with all Indian companies based in Turkey, launched India business Forum (IBF) in Istanbul on 07 December 2018.The India Business Forum was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharyya, Ambassador of India to Turkey. He said IBF would be a pillar for our deeper economic engagement as we create a new partnership with Turkey, focused on trade, investment and technology.rnrnMr. VolkanYuzur representing Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and more than 20 Indian companies participated at the launch event. Mr. VokanYuzur welcomed the launch of India Business Forum and hoped that IBF would open new gateways and business opportunities for both sides. The representatives of the Indian companies welcomed the initiative and offered their whole hearted support to IBF and hoped that IBF would become the voice of India and Indian Business in Turkey.rnrnThe India Business Forum was launched with the following objectives rnrn(i) Promote Brand India.rn(ii)Share best practices through promoting Indian presence and providing increased visibility.rn(iii) Host sessions with Turkish authoritieseconomic think tanksindustry associations.rn(iv) Start IBF with Indian companies in Turkey and later expand to include Turkish companies with investments in India.rn(v) Cooperation with FICCICII for office, consultancy, taxation, legal advice.rn(vi) To promote CSR and social commitments as part of Indian ethos.rn(vii) Quarterly meetings of the IBF to be held in IstanbulAnkara.rnrnThe launch of the India Business Forum has been supported by CIIFICCIInvest India, and CII would be the Secretariat of the IBF.rn

Ambassador of India to Turkey, Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharyya paid a visit to the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) on Dec 05, 2018. The Ambassador was received by the President of The Ankara Chamber of Commerce Mr. Gursel Baran. The Ambassador also held a meeting with the traders of Turkey who were already doing business and those who wanted to do Business with India. The Ambassador briefed about the Investment opportunities in India. The traders on the other hand shared the various problems they were facing while trading with India. The outreach by the Indian Ambassador was appreciated very much by the Ankara Chambers of Commerce.

03 DECEMBER 2018 COMMENTS OFF ON AMBASSADOR OF INDIA VISITS BILKENT



On November 27, Indian Ambassador to Ankara Sanjay Bhattacharyya visited Bilkent to give a lecture titled India in a Globalized World: An Economic Perspective. The Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences and the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management cohosted the event.

The lecture attracted a large audience of faculty members and students. In his presentation, Mr. Bhattacharyya, whose academic background is in economics, discussed Indias defining features and the countrys role in the world economy. He listed democracy, productivity and the reform taking place in internal systems as among the important factors shaping economic development in India. He also noted the escalating enthusiasm among young people for innovation. Stressing the importance of globalization in economic development, Mr. Bhattacharyya concluded his remarks by stating, India needs the world, and the world needs India.

The ambassadors visit also included a luncheon at the Department of Tourism and Hotel Managements practice restaurant, Le Piment Rouge, where students of the department prepared and served examples from Indian cuisine under the supervision of Chef Elif Denizci and service instructor Ali ünal. Among the guests at the luncheon were Prof. Abdullah Atalar, university rector; Prof. Erinç Yeldan, dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences; Kamer Rodoplu, dean of students and director of the School of Applied Technology and Management; and Asst. Prof. Eda Gürel, acting chair of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management.

 Ambassador of India Shri Sanjay Bhattacharyya paid a visit to YildirimBeyazit University, Ankara, on November 02, 2018. He met the Rector of the University, DrMetinDoğan and learnt about the various activities the university was undertaking. The Ambassador also appraised the Rector about various programs where the University could collaborate with the universities in India and benefit from the interaction. Some books on India were also presented by the Ambassador to the library of the University. The Ambassador later interacted with the students of political science and international relations, undergoing third and fourth semester of Course on Asian Politics and Course on Non Western perspectives on International Relations. Ambassador Bhattacharyya spoke on ‘Indian in 21stCentury’.
